Elevated Oatmeal

Oatmeal does not have to be boring. Loading your oats with fruits, nuts, seeds, and your sweetener of choice will make you crave this hearty breakfast everyday.
This recipe supports healthy digestion and can help benefit your mental health as it contains the 5 mood foods:
- Polyphenols: Berries & Flaxseed

Equipment

  • small pot

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup water or your choice of milk I like to use oat milk
  • 1 handful berries raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries are all great!
  • 1 small handful walnuts or other nuts of choice
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp ground flaxseed flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 sliced banana
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 large tbsp plain yogurt

Instructions

  • Bring water or your choice of milk to boil
  • Lower heat and add oats and pinch of salt
  • While oats are cooking, add chia seeds, cinnamon, and maple syrup
  • Once your oats absorb the liquid, turn off stove, and let them rest for a couple minuts
  • Transfer oats to bowl
  • Add berries, banana, and walnuts to your oats. Top with some yogurt. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious bowl of sweet oats!
